Will Share Spotlight in Assisi, Italy
Artists Embassy International & Sister Cities
of San Francisco to Unveil Sculpture
San Francisco, California, July 25, 2001 - Dale Perkins, renowned San Francisco
watercolor artist will be displaying many of his popular San Francisco watercolors
at the unveiling of a newly completed St. Francis Statue in Assisi, Italy. His
watercolor splashes cover the Bay, Boats, Bridges and Buildings of the City
where he grew up and are a microcosm of treasured icons. His work is currently
showing in galleries in Carmel, Sausalito and San Francisco.
Assisi, the Sister City of San Francisco will be celebrating the unveiling of
a nine ton, nine foot tall bronze sculpture of Saint Francis, a permanent gift
to the City of Assisi. The Sculpture unveiling, art display and musical program
will take place on October 4, 2001, the Feast Day of Saint Francis of Assisi.
The music, poetry and dance presentations are done through the courtesy of the
Artists Embassy International as well as Assisi hosted special entertainment.
Sculptor, Harriet Moore created the sculpture at the request of Althya Youngman
as an expression of universal aspirations in the best of humanity's ideals
and hopes, a longing for peace and a reverence for life and harmony with nature.
Heading arrangements is San Francisco native, Bill Armanino. Mr. Armanino, the
Sister City Chairman says that Mayor Willie Brown, Captain William Davenport
and other members of the San Francisco Police Officers' Association representing
Chief Fred Lau, as well as civic and religious leaders from San Francisco and
Assisi will be making formal presentations.
